(2I) New Student Convocation:
Yesterday I went to the New Student Convocation in the Lynman Center. Going into the convocation I didn't know what to expect because I didn't really know what it was at the time. I learned that a convocation is kind of like graduating but instead of graduation out of the school you are graduating into the school.
When the convocation began, the deans, presidents, vice presidents and student representatives walked into the stage in a single file line. During the ceremony we listened to the vice president for academic affairs, the president of the senior class, and the president of the Student Government. Everyone talked about how important it is to get involved during our four years at Southern. After all the presidents and vice presidents spoke, there were six student representatives from our class that ended the ceremony by reading something to all of the incoming freshman that we had to agree to.
