4A Patience is Key

Waiting for something you really want is not one of the easiest things to do and I am sure a lot of people can agree with that. Ever since I was a kid I never wanted to have to wait to get something. When I wanted something I wanted it right away! I remember when I was a kid my mom would say "if your not patient your not getting it at all." Even though I think I became better at being patient I still think patience is something I am lacking. There are many things that are worth waiting for and I know that everything my future brings will be worth waiting for.

One experience I have had with this was when I was in eighth grade. I had a cell phone that I did not like at all. Everyday I would beg and beg my parents to get me a new one and there answer was always "you have to wait until you get an upgrade." I did understand where they were coming from because if I got a new phone right away my parents would have to pay full price for it. The only problem was my next upgrade wasn't until four months. I finally gave up and stopped asking my parents everyday if I could get a new phone and I just waited until my upgrade. When the day finally came I got a new blackberry and it was definitely well worth the wait. I got a brand new phone and my parents didn't have to pay a lot for it because I waited for the upgrade.

I believe that us Americans are overly impatient. We are always in a hurry and everything we do is always at a fast pace. When we want something we will do whatever we can to get it. I think this can be a good and bad thing. I think it is a good thing when people know what they want and they are compassionate and will do anything to get it. On the other hand this could cause a lot of competition because everyone wants to be the best. If someone got a new iphone 5 then the next person is going to wait and get the 5S so that they are better and have the cooler phone.

This leads me to my last thought, I think that technology plays a role in Americans being so impatient. Now a days you can do so much with technology. You can listen to music, text your friends, watch videos, check twitter or Facebook, etc. Everyone relies on their phone to do everything for them and I think that is a big part in why us Americans are extremely impatient.
